The story of Fettigrew Hall begins in the 13th century when a castle was first built on the property. Gilbert DeBois was the first builder. As the story progresses through the centuries the castle becomes a ruin and the house is eventually built.
Perhaps the castle built in the 13th Century would look somewhat like this, which is Stokesay Castle in England. It has the jettied window that I described was built for Kathryn DeBois so that she could see to do her needlework.
Fettigrew Hall may look similar to this painting of Little Moreton Hall by George Theaker in the 19th century.
